End your pitch by asking a focused question that will engage the employer in conversation. "Could you tell me more about the new (product) you are developing?" "Could you tell me more about your financial management training program?" Conduct yourself professionally at all times. Remember, you could be making an impression while you are standing in line or walking around the fair. Your ATTITUDE is important. Be positive, enthusiastic and friendly. ENERGY! Practice your 30 second pitch and incorporate positive non-verbal communication, such as eye contact, facial expressions, body language, posture etc.   AFTER THE CAREER FAIR -Send a thank you note and reconfirm interest in the position and the company. -Send another copy (or if you used business cards send a copy) of your resume targeted to the position you discussed. -Within a week follow up with a phone call if you have not heard from them.   DON’TS -Wing It! -Ask what the company does -Ask if the company has any jobs -When asked what type of position you are seeking, DON’T say you would be willing to do anything -Carry your backpack, large purse, or too much stuff -Arrive at the end of the day -Dress casually -Ask questions about salary and benefits -Only Grab the free stuff

General Career Fair Tips For Exhibitors

        • Always submit your security information on time in order to gain access to secure show locations.

        • Be on time! The career fair typically begins at 10:00 am so be ready and set up by 9:30 am.

        • Set appointments to coincide with the event. Make your travel time productive by meeting with job seekers in the area. Please remember that the career fairs are only open to job seekers that already have access to the military installation where the event is taking place.

        • Travel with the Exhibitor Information Packet as it contains important information such as driving directions and special security instructions.

        • You want to make a good first impression, so make sure whoever is staffing the table is fully informed and prepared to talk with job seekers about (1) your organization, (2) the position(s) you’re recruiting for, and (3) your hiring procedures/policies.

        • If you are unable to accept resumes at the Fair, you’ll want to be able to explain (1) why, (2) what the alternate application procedures are, and (3) why it’s still beneficial that job seekers talked with you at the Fair. Many job seekers seem to question the value of attending these events if they’re repeatedly told to “just apply on our website” and supplying this information is a great way to build and maintain relationships with candidates.

        • Know what you want to accomplish: Are you recruiting for full-time, part-time or internship positions? What job seekers are you most interested in? Are you wanting to introduce the military installation to your organization or are you hoping to maintain your presence and visibility at the military installation? This can guide your Fair strategy.

        • Do not leave your exhibit space unattended.

        • The best way to welcome potential new employees is to stand, not sit, at your exhibit. Don’t wait for job seekers to approach you; consider asking open-ended, yet specific questions (i.e., “Are you interested in an IT career with the country’s leading software manufacturer?”). Avoid the “hard sell” and consider a softer, informative style.

        • Bring business cards, wear a name tag and have plenty of copies of job opportunities and collateral.

        • Consider inviting your employees who work at the military installation to visit your exhibit at the Fair.

        • After the Fair, respond to all inquiries personally ASAP to reinforce your good image and to "strike while the iron is hot."

        • Interesting give-aways, an exciting display, and engaging staff are the best way to generate interest among candidates.

        • Don’t pack up early! It reflects poorly on your organization when your exhibit space is empty.

      • You are required to present a valid government I.D. with your picture and current vehicle registration and insurance on entering installation. As part of security measures on a military installation your vehicle may be subject to inspection.

From I-675: • At Exit-20, turn left onto Dayton - Yellow Springs Rd and follow to Ohio 444. • Turn left on Ohio 444. • At the next light, turn right and go to Gate 12A See Directions from Gate 12A below and map.   From Dayton International Airport: • Follow I-70 East to Exit 41 • At Exit-41 turn right on to Ohio 4 • Follow Ohio 4 to Ohio 444.
